These plants can help keep flies and other insects out of the garden. Using fertilizer can help promote growth. Leaves are ready for harvest after around 85 days and can be picked off the plant rinsed and used in dishes. Their sweet unique taste makes a great addition to sauces and can flavor meats and vegetables. They also make great pesto.
